Building a community starts and ends with attracting and interacting with the right group of people, and who are the ‘right’ people?
You Need To Identify Them
If you’ve already found your community, you’ll know they are the ones who can’t get enough of your content or coaching; the ones who share your passion in a common interest and goal. That’s really all there is to it, and making sure you’ve thrown your lot in with the right community is key and then making sure you’re creating the content/service/products that your community is looking for.
And yet there is another very important step to the process, the key to building an on-line community. Once you’ve identified the right client, the right community you want to be part of, the right people you want to be serving AND created powerful content for them, you need them to find you.
They Need To Find You
That’s where social media plays a vital part.
Yes. You could spend all day on social media—and in creating resources for each different platform. DON”T!
Help Them Find You
Instead, focus on those one to three platforms where your ideal clients are most active and engaged.
- Find out where they hang out. If your ideal client is a fellow entrepreneur, check their website to see which social badges they display. Visit their profiles via those badges, and see where they are consistently active.
- Find out what hashtags your specialty niche members are using, as well as where they are using them.
- Join Facebook or Linked-in groups, to engage these particular people that you are looking to attract into your community.
When you feel you have got to know them well, look for an opportunity to branch out and start your own group—one that is aligned with your focus, and your ideal client’s needs.
For example, if you notice a small group branching off within the group, and their interest suits your focus, create a group around that focus and invite these members specifically to join it. (Example: An art group where several members exhibit a passionate interest in the anime style, if you teach anime. Or in a coaching group and there is a lot of interest in values or mindset, if you teach mindset or values)
When you promote on social media, consider running your promotion simultaneously on two platforms. For example, you can promote your Pinterest pins, and always, always, run a parallel promotion on Facebook. Here’s why:
- Facebook content has high instant visibility and a short life
- Pinterest ads have lesser visibility, and Pins live on forever and gather momentum
So, you would use your Facebook promotion for instant reach and your Pinterest promotion to make sure that your Pins live on.
“An ounce of strategy beats days and days of hard work, every time!”
Focus on the two or three social media accounts where:
- Your followers live
- Your community engage with influencers
- You love to hang out
Meanwhile upload evergreen resources to non-interactive social media platforms
AND most important of all? Show up every day in your chosen social platforms.
And that’s where we come in helping you to leverage your content. That means all you focus on is creating one master piece of content each week, written, audio or video and then simply handing it over to us to leverage it, in multiple forms on your chosen platforms.
